Install and test GSM alarm systems tutorial for DIY
We write this article with reason of many residential users don't know how to program and use the GSM wireless alarm systems. This article includes basic information for operating of GSM alarm system, programming and setup, hardwired zone wiring, hardwired siren wiring information. We hope this article can help you, and after read this tutorial, you can test and install the GSM alarm in an easy manner.
1. Insert SIM Card to alarm panel
Before operate and install the GSM alarm system, you need to get a valid GSM SIM card, then insert it to alarm panel in correct direction, when alarm system is turn OFF. (Note: The GSM alarm system work under GSM cellular network, it means 2G. If your 3G operate can provide GSM service, that means the 3G SIM card also can work with GSM based alarm systems. Before use the SIM card, you may need to disable PIN code and make sure the SIM card can allow make phone call and send SMS)
Connect the power cable to alarm panel and switch it ON, now the system is ON.When turn on the system, it will try to make communication with GSM, so you need to wait 20 seconds, before any operation. After 20 seconds, you can press "UP" "DOWN" icon to check the GSM level. If the LCD display "NO SIM CARD", that means the system is not inserted with valid SIM or can not detect the SIM card. If it shows signal level like "15 OK", that means the alarm system can communicate with GSM network.
Now you can start to program the system, entering programming mode, you need to press "SET", then input password (default:888888), then press"ENT". It will shows SET TIME & SET DATE. Before enter any information, you need to press "Delete" key to clear old data.
If the current time is 12:00:00AM, then input should be 120000. If the date is 2011-11-05, then the input should be 1111051. (11 means year, 11 means month, 05 is day, 1 means Monday)
3. Program phone numbers for alarm receiving
The alarm system can work with telephone line and GSM SIM card. It can preset up to 6 phone numbers for alarm receiving. When program the phone number, user can choose whether receive phone call or SMS alert. Please note that when program the phone number into alarm system, make sure input the correct format that included with your country code and district code. After programming, if you find the system can not make a phone call or SMS, then it means the phone number programming is wrong.
4. Program wireless sensors to alarm panel
If you ordered extra wireless sensors from us, you may need to program it into alarm panel, before use it. Go to "program sensor" menu, then input "zone number" and "group number" then select "Activate sensor", then LCD display "Learning....", you need to trigger the sensor.Notice:
- You should program sensors into correct zone number
- One zone can support maximum 4 units sensors, so the group number for the first sensor, you need to input "00" and second sensor, the group number should be "01", third one is "02", forth one is "03".

5. Zone attribute & Doorbell function
Go to zone attribute, you can change the zone type and alarm type, sensor type, Bypass zone,enter delay. Example: If you want zone 11 make the doorbell sound, when door is open. You need go to zone attribute, input zone number 11, choose zone type, and alarm type input 20, bypass No.then it's done.
6. Hardwired zone and wiring method
Before use the hard wired zones, you need go to zone attribute and set hard wired zones Bypass to NO (default setting is YES).For the hard wired zones, we need put the EOL resistor into wiring. We herein provide the wiring diagram as below:
7. How to use the hard wired siren output
The alarm system work with wireless siren and hard wired siren. Please note that there is a 2 pin wires for connection between hardwired siren and alarm panel. When an alarm is triggered, the system will output DC +12V
