NVR system

CCTV DVR System or IP NVR System?

DVR is digital video recorder, supporting analogue video signal input. The DVR can compress, record, playback, internet access for the video signal. But the highest resolution only reach to 960H (928*576) or D1 (704*576).

NVR is network video recorder, NVR works with IP cameras, with function of recording compressed digital video signal, and local playback and video streaming. The resolution can support from QCIF to 1.3MP, 2MP, 3MP, 5MP…etc HD video signal.

Difference between NVR, HD-SDI DVR, HVR, DVR, HDCVI

Introduction to NVR

Network video recorder (NVR) is advanced video recorder which is designed to record compressed video footage to hard disk drivers (HDD). The NVR can receive the video/images or even audio through an Ethernet network (cat5/cat6) from IP cameras. Typically, NVR can support high definition recording including 1280x720 (720P) and 1920x1080 (1080P), some advanced NVRs with capability to record 3 megapixel and 5 megapixel resolutions for ultra HD video surveillance applications. Therefore, when compared to a DVR and analogue cameras system, an NVR and IP cameras is more expensive, however, it provides much higher resolution and superior image qualities.

How to choose right IP NVRs?

IP-based video surveillance system is becoming the dominate way for high quality video images. Users can choose to use IP cameras with either VMS (video management software) or dedicated NVR to setup a complete new system. For professional or commercial surveillance applications, a IP based network video recorder can provide dedicated uninterrupted video recording and video footage management to your IP based video surveillance system. The NVR integrates front end management, video recording and network transmission, even management into a single system.

How to connect IP cameras to NVR?

IP surveillance technology becomes the new trend in security & protection industry. Nowadays, it's so convenient to buy IP surveillance equipment for ultra HD video surveillance system whatever for monitoring residential or business. Unlike the traditional cctv system, IP surveillance equipment rely on network for video transmission. Herein we provide some useful information about the connection of IP camera and NVR.

Connect the IP camera to NVR

Different from the analogue system, the IP camera(without PoE) should not connect to NVR directly, the IP cameras and NVR should connect to the same router. This can ensure the NVR to recognize the IP cameras in the same router. This is very important, whether you want to login via web browsers or using the NVR/VMS for video recording.

How to install HDD for NVR?

Simple information for installation of HDD for NVR. Similar to DVR, NVR also requires installed with HDD (hard disc driver) for running. HDD provides enormous storage space for network video recorder. In summary, installation of HDD is same like installing HDD for DVR.

Preparation

Preparation the NVR and HDD is essential, and HDD can be traditional desktop PC HDD, or pro HDD designed for video surveillance storage purpose. Generally, these HDDs without too much difference, but pro HDD designed for video surveillance storage can offer industrial grade performance and data protection. A screw driver is needed for fixing the HDD to NVR.

NVR system vs DVR system, which one do I purchase?

When considering the video surveillance system. There are two kinds of security system are available in the market; DVR security system and NVR security system. As we know, digital video recorder (DVR) and network video recorder (NVR) come in diverse different features, models and types. Understanding the function of them and difference between them is very important when you want to choose one system to meet your needs.

Digital video recorder (DVR) vs Network video recorder (NVR)

Undoubtedly, we are entering into digital era. Even the digital video recorders have very powerful network function, hence the difference between DVR and NVR can be confusing to many.
