FAQ For VSTAR Security Alarm T-6 Systems

Q1:  If I have an answering machine turned on will I be able to call in to arm/disarm the host?

A1:  No, please be sure to turn off the answering machine for the alarm host to be able to received incoming calls.  The fact that most answering machines will answers within 6 or 7 rings and our Air-Alarm system required about 15 seconds in order to receive incoming signals to allow arm/disarm, the answering machine will pick up the signal before Air-Alarm host if the answering machine is not turned off while away from home.

Q2:  How can I tell if my T-6 Alarm Panels is correctly armed before leaving home?

A2: Please make sure to arm the alarm host and check to see if the red LED light comes on armed, once certain then leave home.  From the moment of armed, there will be a 40 seconds to 1 minute delay time to leave home depending on the dwell time setup.

Q3: My siren is not loud enough; I could barely hear them when I am standing outside?

A3: Install the siren closer to the windows/doors and in the opening. Add more indoor siren or add an outdoor siren which outputs 120dB.

Q4: Does the antennas on the T-6  have to be extended outward for normal use?

A4: No, antennas may not be necessary to be extended outward if area of installation has great receptions. However, in an area with weak reception, extending the antenna will provide maximum performance.

Q5: Does the T-6 support dial-in to arm/disarm if it is installed behind a multiple line telephone system?

A5: No. Currently VSTAR Security Alarm can only dial-in to arm/disarm if T-6 is connected through a standard LAND line; ie. a PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Line) home phone line (aka. POTS - plain old telephone service). However; the telephone used to dial-in to arm/disarm can be from a mobile phone, PSTN, or mulitple line telephone system.

Q6: How can I clear the enlisted telephone numbers from the list?

A6: To clear the enlisted telephone numbers press; SET+password+ENT+01 (01~05 group no.)+ENT+ENT

Or simply add the enlisted telephone numbers to the same group to override the old.

Q7: My Alarm Host keeps on triggering during in coming and out going calls?

A7: Please disable the "Telephone Disconnection Alarm" by entering the following command; SET+password+ENT+60+ENT

Q8: How does VS-WH100 PIR Motion Sensor work and why is it not sensitive enough?

A8: VS-WH100 PIR Motion Sensor areas of detection is 110 degree, 30x30ft. It is immunity to animals that are equal to or less than 10kgs in weight, ie. dogs, cats, etc.

1)VS-WH100 can become less sensitive if the battery becomes weak; replace new 9VDC battery.

2)Try removing the sensor by following the "To Cancel" proceedure in the user's manual and then follow the "To Add" and add it into another zone of the Alarm Host.

3)Power cycle both PIR motion sensor and Alarm Host.

Here is some examples of testing methods that is not recommended for VS-WH100 PIR Motion Sensor:
- Shaking one hand in the front of the PIR Motion Sensor. It might not sense well because the IR radiation from one hand may be too small to detect.
- Moving an object (none temperature object), like a stick in the front of the PIR Motion Sensor. It may not sense because sticks in general does not emit IR radiation.
- Moving out of the detection areas.

Q9: What is the different between VMD (Video Motion Detection) and VS-WH100 (Passive Infrared) Motion sensor?

A9: There are two types of Motion Sensors:

(1) VMD (video motion detection) is software-driven motion sensing method. This method is use by most DVR product.
Motion is detected by comparing two consecutive images and see if there are any changes between the two images. The sensitivity level (or threshold of image change) can be adjusted (software setting) to minimize false alarm.

(2) PIR (passive infrared) sensor is hardware-driven motion sensing method. It detects IR radiating from objects in its field of view, not physical motion in the image. PIR sensor is an electronic device designed to detect objects with temperature like human, animal, and automobile all emits IR radiation. The
sensitivity level is fixed by default to avoid false alarm. It is immunity to cats, dogs, mouses, and birds, etc. that are less than 10kgs (will not cause false alarm).

Q10: I can not hear the recorded voice play back, after pick up the call from alarm ?

T-6 system can program central monitoring station number and personal number. If you want to use the central monitoring service, you should program the phone number into first group number. The alarm system will communicate with central monitoring station with Contact ID protocol, that means it will not play the recorded voice message.  If you want to self-monitoring, then you should program the phone number into 2-5 group, then the alarm will playback the recorded voice message, when pick up the phone call from alarm.
