Hisilicon 4K SoC - difference betwene Hi3519V101 and Hi3519V100

After the successful launch of the 4K H.265 SoC - Hi3519 for ultra high definition camera solution in Q4 2015, the Hisilicon engineer team keeps devoting time to release new updates aiming to provide the best performance solution that can better accommodate the current market trend. Consequently, the team has released Hi3519V101 processor which had improved performance comparing its predecessor - Hi3519V100. So, what does Hi3519V101 differ from its predecessor?

Both Hi3519V101 and the old version Hi3519V100 based on the same ARM big.LITTLE architecture, and including ARM Cortex A7 + A17 dual-core processors, can provide multiple video compression standard for instance H.264/AVC and H.265/HEVC, it supports 16 megapixel image raw data input from a CMOS image sensor. However, comparing with the V100 version, the new V101 version make some improvements, it further improves video encoding efficiency, thus can now support 4K*2K@30fps+1080P@30fps.(Max.16M@3fps) video processing capability. Meanwhile, in order to cater the increasing demand for panoramic cameras, the Hi3519V101 can support dual image sensor signal input. Herein we present you the comparison table as below:

Model Number Specification
Hi3519V100 ARM A7+A17 Dual core
H.264/H.265 encoding format
Encoding capability 4K*2K@30fps+720P@30fps.(Max.16M@2fps)
Support fisheye correction
Low power consumption 1.5 watt under 4K*2K encoding condition
Hi3519V101 ARM A7+A17 Dual-core
H.264/H.265 Encoding format
Encoding performance 4K*2K@30fps+1080P@30fps.(Max.16M@3fps)
Support fisheye dewarping
1.5 watt power consumption under 4K*2K shooting mode, dual image sensor input

Hi3519 + MN34120 4K Camera Solution

Read my previous article which introduced the 4K IP camera solution based on Hi3519 + Sony IMX274 CMOS image sensor hardware solution. In this article, we briefly introduce you the Hi3519 + Panasonic MN34120 4K network camera solution, because we expect this solution will be deployed in plenty consumer 4K cameras and sports cameras, as well as security surveillance cameras soon.

According to the datasheet of Panasonic MN34210, this image sensor belongs to Panasonic CMOS SmartFSI series product portfolio. It offers maximum 16-megapixel effective pixels, image format supports 4632*3488 (12bit) /16fps; 4632*3488 (10bit)/22fps; 2314*1304 (12bit)/60fps and more. Though image format adopts 4:3, can be adjusted to 16:9 to fit the requirement of standard resolution format. It adopts subLVDS interface, can be supported by the Hi3519 SoC, it's a 1/2.33 inch type progressive CMOS image sensor, can be used for high performance but cost-effective camera applications.
